Angora Goats & Mohair

Angora goats were bred at Crookabeck for 30 years. They have now moved on, but we still have a good stock of knitting yarn spun from their beautiful fleeces.

Mohair is made from the fleece of an angora goat.  It is a lustrous yarn and known as The Diamond Fibre as it dyes to bright shiny colours.

Mohair is 30% warmer and 30% stronger than wool, is lightweight and flame retardant.

Mohair grows 1” per month and the goats are clipped twice a year.
